NIGERIAN MEN AINT LAZY!

Imagine someone who does not have a grounded understanding of people and places talking on issues she does not know.Abritish baroness has the view that Nigerian men are lazy !Nigerians ,men or women are intelligent and hard working pple.Nigeria has a mix of all characters spread in different concentration among all the various ethnic grops that make up the Nigerian nation. What the baroness is saying shows how less informed and myopic she is- her analysis about the activities of the supposed four wives is so childish and unprofessional! Guess she should go back to school and do more research before speaking in the public.!

British Baroness Flather, causes outrage after accusing Nigerian Men Of Being Lazy

Controversial peer Baroness Flather caused outrage yesterday with a claim that Nigerian men marry
four wives because they are lazy, reports the Daily Mail.

Speaking on a radio phone-in debate on polygamy, she said: ‘Most of the men in Nigeria don’t do anything, their wives do all the work, that’s why they have so many.’

Lady Flather spoke out after a Nigerian caller told how his father had four wives, they all lived together in the same house without arguments and their 11 children were all well educated.

The crossbencher, Britain’s first female Asian peer, recently made controversial claims that some Asian families in Britain have lots of children in order to claim extra welfare payments.

Yesterday’s comments were made as she spoke as a guest on the BBC Radio 5 Breakfast show, presented by Nicky Campbell.

Campbell was joined in the studio by Khola Hasan, of the Islamic Sharia Council, which says polygamy is on the rise among British Muslims.

SENSIBLE DIETING

There have been  different methods of losing weight  put forward  by some people I came across. They are not experts in the field of nutrition and their prescribed ways of losing weight could be bewildering. One has the belief that skipping breakfast would help cut down those unwanted calories. Some say leaving out lauch will give the desired trim look any lady wishes .Further  , another section believes weight loss could come from eating before 6pm and avoiding bananas! These could be confusing.Below  is an interesting article to help clear doubts.

6 fat loss questions you need to know the answers to

By Rachael Anne Hill | Rachael Anne Hill – Fri, Sep 23, 2011 15:34 BST

How can you lose weight without feeling hungry?  Is it really so important to eat breakfast?  What's the best way to control cravings and which is more effective at shifting the pounds — eating less or exercising more?  We asked Rachael Anne Hill the answers to all these and more.
Whenever I cut calories to lose weight I am constantly hungry. What can I do?
Make sure you eat little and often throughout the day. This will help to prevent your blood sugar levels from dropping which can send hunger levels sky high.  Include plenty of foods in your diet that are high in water, fibre and protein too such as fruits, vegetables, beans, pulses, nuts, fish, chicken, lean meats and wholegrains as these will help to fill you up without piling on the calories.  Finally, there is evidence to suggest that even mild dehydration can also increase feelings of hunger so make sure you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
Will skipping breakfast really hinder my ability to lose weight?
Studies indicate that people who eat breakfast tend to be slimmer and have a lower overall fat and calorie intake than those who don't.   This is probably because eating breakfast helps to elevate blood sugars which keep hunger pangs and cravings for high calorie, fatty foods at bay.  If you really can't face breakfast try getting up a little earlier.  This will give your body more time to come round to the idea of eating.  If that's not an option make a fresh fruit smoothie or take something with you in the morning like a banana or a low fat, whole meal muffin.  Alternatively keep a box of cereal and skimmed milk at work or buy a ready prepared bowl of fresh fruit salad and a low fat yogurt and simply eat your first meal of the day a little later.

Will eating late at night cause me to gain weight?

As long as you are not taking in more calories than you actually need, eating at night time won't make you any more likely to gain weight than eating throughout the day.  The important thing as far as controlling your weight is concerned is how many calories you eat, not when you eat them.  That said, it is a good idea to spread your calorie intake evenly in the form of regular small meals and snacks as this will help to keep blood sugar levels constant, energy levels high and hunger pangs at bay.
Should I switch to artificially sweetened products?
There is a lot of controversy surrounding the health benefits of eating artificial sweeteners.  Recent research has suggested that although they may help to lower calorie intake they may in fact, stimulate appetite and therefore lead to even more weight gain than if you had eaten the real thing.   Try to re-train your taste buds to become accustomed to eating less sugar instead.

How can I stop myself craving chocolate when I diet?

Firstly, don't ban yourself from eating it.  If you do, the cravings for it will only get stronger.  Instead allow yourself a small number of 'treat' calories a day and use them up on whatever chocolate snack you like.  Many people find that when they give themselves permission to have a little of what they fancy on a diet the urge to over indulge in it subsides.

Is it better to eat less or exercise more to lose weight?

Exercise is great for your body. It keeps your heart healthy, makes you feel good, tones your muscles and helps to protect you against a whole host of diseases.  It's also great at helping to prevent you from re-gaining any weight you might lose.  However, in order to lose weight it's the calories you eat that count so by all means exercise regularly but don't be fooled into thinking that by doing so you can eat what you like — it won't work.

ENYEAMA VS NFF

In the on going qualifying matches for the African Cup of Nations next year,   first-choice Nigerian goal keeper protested against the travel arrangements made by the Nigerian Football Federation. I see his move as bold and right .Enyeama is to me a radical and an articulate young man who was able to stand up to the corrupt and lackadaisical leadership of  Nigeria seen in the NFF.Since then, he has been victimised and met antagonism from the  football body.NFF was intimidated by  this young and vibrant footballer. It is now looking for a  way to silence him instead of  making him a hero of honesty and transparency or even learning from his complaints.

THE MISTAKE OF GADDAFI

Like many incumbent African leaders who ruled their countries for a long time , the once formidable Gaddafi made a costly gaffe! While the clamour and fight for his ousting was raging , he refused to step down and quietly leave. Now he is  afraid to show himself in the public because he is a wanted man , has no peace , lost his family especially his dead son.Ironically  another of his son  is seeking refuge in Niger  one of the dark African countries whose nationals are witnessing racial hate and killings.

Lottery winner goes back to stacking shelves

A Lottery winner who won a £2.49million jackpot has returned to work stacking shelves at Asda.

Nicky Cusack, 46, was battling cancer when she claimed her prize back in 2009 and says it was the thought of returning to work that kept her going.

After successfully finishing her chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, she checked back in to Asda Walmart in Swindon, earning £6.30 an hour – just above the minimum wage.

She said: ''I didn't even know if I would see the next day or not, I wanted to stay normal. It is just about being who you want to be.

“Some people say 'why is she back? There is no need for her to work'. No there isn't, but it is the company and your friends, that is what makes a working environment.

“Every job gets to you after a while but I enjoy my job. That's sad maybe but I just get on and do it.

“I am quite happy going to work and coming home. Going to do bits and bobs, but at the end of the day your health is important.”

Nicky has avoided lavish spending, her biggest expenditure was a £250,000 four bedroom home in Swindon. She has also donated money to charities with £3,000 in total to Macmillan Cancer Support, Prospect Hospice, Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign, Help for Heroes and Meningitis Trust

HINDSIGHTED LAW !

Professor Adaobi Obasi , Imo state commissioner for education in Nigeria banned the use of mobile phones by pupils of  primary and secondary schools. Her reason are to stem crime and instil discipline in children.I see this move as wrong and hindsighted. The law does not make it clear whether the pupils can  make use of mobile phones within  or without the school premises. To cut crime rate in the Nigerian society does not equate preventing pupils from using mobile phones as its advantages outweighs its disadvantages. The many crimes that abound in the Nigerian society are not the fault of these youngsters who need every protection and monitoring by their parents and guardians when they are not with them. Some years ago , Germany developed a special phone that will enable parents keep a check on their children. The Imo State government should look again at this ban.The causes of crime in Nigeria are largely due to corruption  and bad government. For these reasons , graduates and  the unemployed in the Nigerian society take to crime.Once the issue of unemployment and usefully engaging the youths  are solved  the crime rate would drop to some extent. The government of Nigeria is currently floating rehabilitation programmes for militants. The Imo State and entire Nigeria governments should extend  this  to  unemployed youths by way of building vocational and skill acquisation centres and giving out loans to enable these youths set up on their own.Lack of funds too has contributed to unemployment and crime.

IS THERE AN EPIDERMY OF DEATH IN THE NIGERIAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY ?

Last year  a young and promising music act died in Nigerian. This year Christy Essien Igbokwe, Sam Loco Efe ,Ashley Nwosu  ,Geraldine Ekeocha  and CD John an up coming comdian died.Just barely some hours ago  the industry has yet been hit by another tragedy - MC Loph who did a remix of the highlife music OSONDI OWENDI, died in a  tragic motor accident along with his fiancee or sister on the Benin Ore Road. They were heading for  eastern Nigeria  where he was to celebrate his traditional wedding.
The Benin -Ore Road is the only single road connecting Lagos with  eastern  and  Niger Delat areas of Nigeria. There have been several attempts to rebuild and repair this road but it has  always been futile.
The Nigerian government is not paying proper attention to the road.It has claimed  the lives of many innocent Nigerians including that of MC Loph. His marriage plans was never realise and it is just like the wedlock of the gods!He and his wife to be(if she is the one that died) are like being married in the spirit world.May their souls rest in peace.

BEAUTY

Beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder
But I say it is in body care
Fashion and style
Groomed hair
Fine courture
A touch of cosmetic
Some douche of fragrance
Leaving a trailing whiff
That makes a defined elegance!
